Held over seven incredible weekends this training is for you if you want to expand your teaching beyond āsana. Many teachers leave their initial training with the skills to share a physical practice; perhaps you have a yearning to deepen into other aspects of the yoga practice and tradition. This training focuses on the lesser-trodden path of a multidimensional practice that will serve you and your students, rippling through all layers of their being, going beyond the body to the breath, and then beyond the breath to the mind and into deeper layers of the Self. You’ll be guided in an intimate, safe, and supportive environment where creativity, professionalism, and leadership are nourished. Strengthen your faith and commitment through practice, community and inquiry.

Module 1
Pañchamaya model
A deep exploration into the Pañchamaya model, also known as the pañcamaya kośa. A journey through the inner temple via experiential inquiry, chanting & deep practices that have a breath-centric focus. The practices and lectures will support you in gaining a deeper understanding of what makes up your entire being and experiencing your true essence nature. Our awakening to our true nature is integral to the energy of life and instrumental to its unfolding for our students and us. This way of seeing ourselves is an imperative component of “advanced yoga.” Rather than a beautiful external expression, our focus on this training is supporting ourselves and our students’ involution, including and yet beyond mastery of āsana. You will learn a meditation sequence informed by this view that supports the mind moving from the outside to the inside and beyond.
Module 2
Vinyāsa Krama Deepening into practice and teaching
The word Vinyāsa means – intelligent placement here; you will learn the specifics of placing the body, breath & attention in an intelligent sequence. This module will refresh your understanding of the theory and practice of yogic techniques from classical Yoga. Substantial emphasis will be given to both the theory and guided practice within the Krishnamacharya lineage, in which we learn the application and function of these tools. We will reflect on what it is we do in Yoga, when and why we do it that distinct way. This module will increase your understanding of the energetic application of the tools of yoga and how to use them to enliven, calm or balance our system depending on the students, time of day, etc., leading us to prioritize function over form.
Module 3
Sanskrit
This module will inspire you to keep the Sanskrit language alive for yourself and your students. Revise your connection, and raise your vibration with the sacred language of Yoga. You will learn to chant the vowels that symbolize the twelves phases of the moon and the consonants as a personal practice. Gain a deeper understanding of the importance of specificity, including mouth positions and aspiration. In this module, you will learn to read transliterated Sanskrit; this will support our journey into Patañajali's Yoga Sūtras and our chanting module. Accurate chanting is a journey let it begin. As a creative experience, you will also learn to write the alphabet in the beautiful script Devanagari as a meditative practice for your own nourishment.
Module 4
The Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali as the mirror
Enjoy the stories and symbolism associated with this text. We will chant and unpack important sūtras that support our underlying of what yoga is and what obstructs this inner state. We hope this module will increase your curiosity and confidence that you will be inspired to integrate the knowledge of the sūtras to guide your journey and teaching. Rachel brings this text alive, making it applicable and inspiring your personal practice and teaching. Through a process of self-inquiry, we will explore the Yoga Sūtras as a mirror to our minds. We will reflect on questions such as; How can I define the even state of mind that I crave? What interrupts my mental clarity? What is the cause of these disturbances? We will cover major themes from Chapters 1 and 2. Our sessions will be a combination of chanting, reflection, journaling, and practice design.
Module 6
Mantra yoga
In this module, you will experience toning and projection techniques to build confidence in your voice and communication skills, which are tremendous benefits of chanting. As a leader, you will tune into your unique voice to share and lead with confidence and humility. We will explore the effects and application of sound and mantra in Yoga. You will experience and learn how mantra yoga is an intrinsic part of āsana, prānāyāma, and dhārana (meditation). The intention is to build your creativity and increase your confidence in your voice. We will engage in practice design and explore the application of these techniques with your students in group classes and private sessions. You will practice the seven notes of classical Indian music, explore how to use singing bowls and other percussion instruments, and music as a way of bringing Nāda Yoga as a well-thought-out layer into your Yoga classes, retreats, and workshops.
Module 5
The nectar of Prānāyāma
My quest to share and demystify these important and effective practices of Prāṇāyāma. You will experience an uplifting combination of practice, techniques, and the principles of Prāṇāyāma.
You will gain a deeper understanding of the hows and the whys of Prāṇāyāma so that you can confidently lead specific breath-focused classes and expand this into your current classes and private sessions. My hope is that you will also refine and expand your ability to design and teach a well-thought-out and effective Prāṇāyāma practice with a particular energetic effect in mind. We will chant and reflect on Patañjali's Yoga Sūtras, some quotes that guide us in the symbolism, intention, and results of prānāyāma from the Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā, Bhairava Tantra, and Bhagavad Gītā.
Module 7
Facilitation skills
Exceptional teaching is more than the capacity to instruct or transfer knowledge. Learn how to understand and craft experiences for groups that support participants to feel safe, connect with a sense of belonging in the group, and integrate learning through diverse embodied processes. Refine the art of opening circles and closing processes, and grow your confidence in facilitating the heart of what you feel called to share.
Teaching yoga beyond the class format
This playful and creative module provides guided processes for you to dive deeply into new ideas, expand the scope of your teaching, and imagine the possibilities of your Yoga offerings beyond the class format. Previous graduates emerged from this module with richly informed plans for diverse initiatives, including retreats; community service programs; international Yoga tours, and specialized workshops. You can expect to expand and refine your understanding of how you are the ideal person to offer your particular gifts and experiences through Yoga and clarify how you are more ready than you may realize to grow beyond the class format should you choose to.
