What’s expected?

The Ray of Light Yoga Teacher Training course is highly experiential. Therefore attendance is mandatory, and classes can only be missed in exceptional circumstances (see below for further information). Student participation and competency will be regularly assessed throughout
the training with enrichment tasks between weekends, practical examinations, discussions and teaching practice. If a student is deemed not competent, help can be provided with further study, practice and reassessment. Additional charges may apply if this goes on outside of the course period.

Students must demonstrate & complete:

  • A commitment to self-practice

  • A reflective approach to learning and teaching

  • 100% of course work must be completed

  • Engagement in classwork and discussion

  • Contact with a study buddy and home study between weekends

  • Practical examination conducted with reflection must be completed

  • All financial obligations must be completed

  • That you are a suitable member of the profession, through appropriate behaviour, character and demeanour

  • You will have the ability to provide safe, caring and professional service to others

What if I can’t attend a session?

We can accommodate up to 20 hours of missed classes for the entire training. DEPENDING
on which days you miss sessions may need to be made up with private lessons with the appropriate teacher at the cost of $110 per hour. You may split the cost with anyone else who has also missed the same session.

Please discuss absences with Rachel to ensure that no coursework is missed. This is particularly important for those requiring certification.

What qualification will I gain?

On successfully completing the Foundational Level Teacher Training, you will be issued a Certificate of Yoga Teacher Training from Ray of Light Yoga. Yoga Alliance accredits this, the US-based International Yoga Association, at the 200-hour level. This means you will be able to get insurance and can start teaching. The Australian peak body Yoga Australia requires
a minimum of 350 hours. You can comply by enrolling in the foundations training with some additional mentoring and level 2 training programs at Ray of Light

What ongoing support is available after completing the course?

After completing the course, you will be qualified to teach. However, additional training, mentoring/apprenticeship with Ray of Light Yoga is highly recommended. Becoming a Yoga teacher takes commitment and ongoing learning and practice. Therefore, continuing education is precious for additional knowledge, support and inspiration, and to keep you in contact with your teachers and peers.

It is a requirement of continuing membership of many Yoga Associations that you continue professional development. We offer advanced teacher training courses, teacher mentoring to your support after your initial training. All of these can count toward your continued learning and some towards your next level of Teacher Training if you are registered with Yoga Alliance/ Yoga Australia.

What if I change my mind or am unable to complete the course?

Unfortunately, there will be no refund or exchange for another course or event.

Extenuating circumstances will be discussed and managed on an individual basis. Please discuss any issues with Rachel. This course is not for the faint-hearted, so please consider your time availability and commit fully to the course once your decision is made.
